The shape, height and surface of the building are strictly defined by the building code. The site is an area placed at the intersection between various expressways in the outskirts of the city. The program calls for the construction of a commercial building including retail space. The “rules of the game” being thus defined, the building has emerged, and could not be otherwise, as a container, a box. The main elements of the design are contextual reading, the cladding of the box, its materials and colors. The building is wrapped in a double skin: silver-grey aluminium plate for the roof; dark grey aluminium plate and glass for the walls. The two layers are superposed, the former covers, the latter enwraps. The shape of the building recalls a hill, a body that the viewer perceives as intermediate between the flat landscape of the plain and the nearby mountains.
